Water Lilies

I first encountered water lilies during a 2020 trip to Cambodia and Laos. Their color, form, and quiet presence captivated me immediately. I began painting them simply because they are stunning, yet over time I’ve become increasingly drawn to their deeper resonance — the way they emerge from darkness into light, and how their brief blooms reflect the fleeting nature of beauty.

In this series, I experiment with composite gold leaf as a base. The surface creates a shifting luminosity — a reflective glow that changes with the light — enhancing the ethereal, fragile presence of the blooms.
